They say you can't fight city hall......can you? (Ballot Box Boneheads, 1985)

From Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling:

The Hulkster (Brad Garrett) and pals discover that a local mayor is corrupt, and decide to help his opponent in the upcoming election. Naturally, the crooked mayor recruits Roddy Piper (voiced by Charlie Adler) and his team. Here's "Ballot Box Boneheads".

Cookie cutter, by the numbers plot that could easily fit anywhere else.

The series' Wikipedia page is incorrect in saying the series ran for 2 seasons. It didn't. It was cancelled after 1. Wikipedia claims this was a half-hour show. It wasn't. It was a hour-long show, and was trimmed to 30 minutes in syndication when someone convinced DIC to give it another life in syndication. Shows you what some people know.

Rating: C-.

The problem with Wikipedia is that anybody and their cousin Ned can edit Wiki, so some folks feel the need to use it to create their own realities.

But no, Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling only ran for a single season on CBS. I was there.

So was I, Silverstar. So was I. Part of the reason it flopped was what aired opposite it---Super Powers Team: Galactic Guardians in the first half (which was the last Super Friends series), and, IIRC, 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo in the 2nd half (which was gone by March). NBC had, I think, Alvin & the Chipmunks on at that hour.

Another reason I believe why Hulk Hogan's Rock 'N' Wrestling didn't last very long is because things in the real life WWE, such as wrestlers quitting, betting fired, changing sides, joining/leaving factions, retiring, getting sidelined due to injuries, etc., change so rapidly that a weekly SatAM TV series couldn't keep up, seeing as how it takes at least 6 month to produce one episode of an animated TV series. It was nearly impossible for the cartoon to stay current with the live action shows.

This is true. Jimmy Snuka & Wendi Richter had left the then-WWF before 1985 was over. In hindsight, this was poorly planned, another example of how Vince McMahon tries going outside the box, but goes nowhere.
