Dr. Seuss' legendary Cat in the Hat returned to television in 2010, this time in a flash-animated series for PBS that combines the whimsy of Seuss with education.
The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That stars Martin Short (ex-The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley) in the title role, which allows Short the opportunity to sing from time to time. He's certainly having fun, and is a much better fit in the part than Mike Myers was in the live-action movie a few years prior.
For the sake of cultural diversity, Sally, from the original Cat in the Hat book, is joined by an African-American neighbor, Nick, as opposed to her brother, Conrad. The Cat has a zillion friends, chiefly Things 1 & 2, who appear when things get to be too tough for the kids. It sounds like Frank Welker might be the one making the sound effects for the Things, but I can't be sure.
