Spiderversary: Knights & Demons (1981)

Spider-Man, Firestar, & Iceman welcome on-again, off-again Avenger Black Knight in this season 1 episode of Spider-Man & His Amazing Friends. Modred the Mystic provides the opposition in this story, "Knights & Demons".

I never saw this episode, so I can't rate it.

I remember this ep!

The most jarring image for me as a kid was seeing a horde of disappointed demons rushing Modred.

This version of Spidey is still a fave with me - partly due to the premise (Spidey teaming up with two former X-Men in a believeable way) and partly due to the voice work (This Peter/Spidey had the best lines and snark to spare).

I did have an issue with the scene in which Modred spied on Earth only to miraculously tune in on the Ren Faire at the college campus! What were the odds he'd see a scene resembling his old era? One would think he'd have tuned into say, England, as opposed to NYC.

Plus, the feminists were working overtime to make Black Knight (and Flash Thompson) the biggest chauvinist[s] while the gals (ie. Firestar) had to prove them fools. Did the word, "Chauvinist" even exist before the 70s?

Black Knight turned up in a cameo in the first season of "Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes". He was shown battling Kang The Conquorer's forces which had invaded Britain.

The word "chauvinist" began to appear in the late 60's, which was the real dawn of the women's liberation movement.

Funny, I don't feel liberated.

It all depends on how you look at the world.
